The article with BM-Science researchers co-authorship gets social media attention

26 February 2018

The article “Topodynamics of metastable brains” published in Physics of Life Reviews journal is among this journal’s articles that have had the most social media attention during 2017 according to the recent report of the PlumX Metrics. PlumX Metrics provide insights into the ways people interact with individual pieces of research output (articles, conference proceedings, book chapters, and many more) in the online environment.

BM-Science educational program for general public

21 December 2017

During the 2017 year BM-Science researchers held a series of public seminars and lectures aiming to educate a general public about the functional state of the brain, its relation to personality, different cognitive and mental conditions, stress and neuropsychopathology. They also include practical information allowing to self-regulate different brain-mind states and process with different approaches (meditation, yoga, neuronutrition and diet, as well as physical exercise).

  1. BM-Science researchers launch a research project “Controlled disentangling of self-components: Neurophenomenological QEEG study”
  2. Selfhood trinity: Neurophenomenological evidence
  3. The "Self", The "Me", The "I": The neurophysiological basis of "I" and the mind development has been explored in a seminar of The Finnish Society for Natural Philosophy (Helsinki, Finland)
  4. BM-Science organises a roundtable on the theme "Meditation, brain function and the Self"

Curiosities of the Brain

  • What is in a Brain?

Mostly Fat! About 60% of the brain is composed of lipids. The brain needs lipid for insulation, and for the speed of operation of neuronal messaging.

  • What Brain cannot do?

It cannot feel pain. The brain can feel pain from all over the body, but not within itself. The brain cannot store oxygen. The brain cannot store glucose (blood sugar)

  • How much energy does the Brain need?

The brain is in many respects the most energy-demanding organ in the body. The human brain represents only 2% of total body mass but consumes 20% of the body’s energy.
